WPT HEADS UP CHAMPIONSHIP

Ivey, Antonius to Meet Tuesday for Championship

Sometimes start a story with its ending. Today’s WPT Heads Up Championship quarterfinals and semifinals qualifies as one of those stories.

Phil Ivey advances to Tuesday’s Championship Match, where he meets … Patrik Antonius.

’nuff said?

Ivey defeats Stephen Chidwick in his quarterfinals match, moves past Chris Kruk in his semi’s and is in for the championships with $400,000 to the winner tomorrow – runner-up receiving $200k.

Antonius dispatched with Stefan11222 Burakov in his quarterfinals match, going deep in game two of his semifinals before eliminating San Greenwood, setting up this flashbacks-of-the-late-2000’s epic battle of legends.

2009’s Season 6 of Poker After Dark featured Ivey in Seat No. 4, Antonius right next to him in Seat No. 5.

Fast forward 11.5 years and they are the only players at the table – sitting battleship-style in Cabo San Lucas playing on the Poker King app to decide this invitational tournament champion.

The livestream begins one hour earlier tomorrow – a Noon PST start at Twitch.TV/WorldPokerTour … see y’all there.
